A large number of Perl's CPAN Testers websites have been updated today to use a common look-and-feel. The full list of updated sites is as follows: CPAN Testers Dynamic Reports, CPAN Testers Static Reports, CPAN Testers Wiki, CPAN Testers Statistics, CPAN Testers Pass Matrix, CPAN Testers Preferences, CPAN Testers Development and CPAN Testers Blog.

Well done to Barbie for all his work on giving these sites their new look.

Woo, nice! It doesn't render as nicely on Opera as it does on Firefox (yes, yes, I know, I'll try coming up with a patch for that if I can). I love the logo, and it's always great to see The Perl Onion in more places.

The onion is okay but more of us associate Perl with the camel. I know there are problems with the camel iconography but even so it is more widely recognised...

Personally I prefer to use Camel imagery at the moment but the recent spate of pretty glass onions (as used here) and on the London.pm web site have made me reconsider. The question is, are there any pretty and "free to use" onion logos people can put on their blogs and web sites without having to ask permission?

I know Debian have protected official logos and un-protected ones. That way the official logo is protected and restricted but anyone can produce a version of the un-protected one without having to ask permission first.

That's an interesting idea... if derived images (such as our 'lopsided' glass onion, and the 'smoking' onion used on CPAN Testers) could be used without having to gain TPF approval, there would probably be a lot more of them out there already. TPF could rigidly protect the unadorned upright onion, perhaps only in certain colours or with certain words next to it, and let people get creative with variations.

I think if there was something a little easier to use - as with Debian and their open use logo then I'm sure there would be a lot more uptake of the onion logo.

David Golden reports that this new layout is deliberately trying to game TIOBE. Which is brilliant, considering how badly gamed TIOBE is anyway.
